Pine Cove Staff Alumni January 16, 2012

Staff AlumniTo the proud staff alumni of Pine Cove,

If you have ever worked at Pine Cove, 1967 to the present, we want to keep up with you. We have recently revamped our Pine Cove Staff Alumni Facebook page and would love for you to check it out. Along with the Facebook page we have a spot on our website dedicated to getting back in contact with former staff. If there is any doubt in your mind about qualifying as a Pine Cove Staff Alumni ask yourself this question. Have I ever received a crazy and somewhat embarrassing nickname from camp? If your answer is NO, then apply. If your answer is YES, then you win. Basically we want to keep in touch with you and provide you with a way to stay in contact with each other. We hope you enjoy!

Fútbol for Friends May 16, 2011

MissionsEach summer Pine Cove families help us partner in Latin America by bringing to camp something that our friends in Latin America can use.

This year we are collecting new or nearly new soccer balls. Deflate yours and drop it off when you come to camp. At soccer clinics throughout Latin America our ministry partner sets up former professional athletes to communicate the good news of God's love and give each child a soccer ball to go home with. We supply soccer balls, and they present the gospel to thousands of campers. It's a great partnership and encouragement to our friends in Latin America.

Cabin Mate Requests March 14, 2011

Beginning March 15th, parents may begin making Cabin Mate Requests. This allows for your camper to be in the same cabin with his/her friends. Out of respect to everyone at camp, we must limit the number of friends in a group to 4 total. Therefore, a parent can request up to 3 friends for their camper to share a cabin with.

The Cabin Mate Request can be made by logging into your registration account. You will create a Cabin Code which you can share with the parents of those you wish to room with. Those you invite can then log into their account and enter your Cabin Code to have their camper placed with your camper. (Please note, our system requires that you have all of your necessary forms submitted and your balance paid before Cabin Mate Requests can be made.) See you at camp!

Columbus Wildfire Contained July 6, 2009

At this time, we are sure that many of you are aware of the wildfire that was burning in the Columbus area. Pine Cove staff are working closely with Colorado County fire officials to monitor this situation as it relates to the safety of our campers.

We are in contact with the Colorado County Sheriff's office and they are telling us that the fire, located about 25 minutes from Outback, is now under control. You can read more about this fire on KHOU's website.

This fire has not impacted camp activities at all. Currently, everything is running as planned and campers are having a great time.

We will continue to update Outback and Down Under Day Camp parents as more information becomes available. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact Reed Livesay, Senior Director of Columbus Camps, at rlivesay@pinecove.com.

Camp Health Update July 2, 2009

As you are probably aware, we suspended camp a few days early at our Towers Youth Camp during week 4 because of widespread illness among our campers.  Some of the campers have been diagnosed with having a common stomach bug, others have tested positive for seasonal Type A Influenza and some families have informed us that their physician has notified them that their child has tested positive for Swine Flu, also known as H1N1.

Regarding Novel H1N1, we have no confirmed reports at this time from the Department of Public Health Services; however since we have had many week 4 camper parents tell us that their child’s physician has confirmed the H1N1 flu, we are operating as if this is true.

For more information, read Mario's Letter.

If your child has been sick we are asking that you not send them to camp until they have been symptom free for at least 24 hours. For more information on preventing the spread of illness, please watch the video below of Dr. Scott Lawrence, Pine Cove’s medical director. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 877-474-6326.

Pine Cove's Flu Policy June 18, 2009

Under the supervision of our Medical Director, Dr. Scott Lawrence, Pine Cove has monitored the current Influenza status with the CDC and local health care providers. At this time, the current strain of influenza appears to be less virulent than seasonal influenza in years past. Based upon current camper day statistics for Pine Cove, current care levels for campers with Flu symptoms remain at a low level overall. Pine Cove will actively manage the health care of all campers and staff in the following manner.

Pine Cove News Page September 22, 2008

Welcome to the new Pine Cove news page.  The focus of this page will be to update you on important deadlines, upcoming events, and other note-worthy items.  The page will be updated at least once a week with additional posts possible during certain times of the year.  Our hope is that this page will keep both our current and prospective campers better connected to Pine Cove.  If you have a topic that you would like to see us write about, please send your suggestion to contactus@pinecove.com.
