2009 Ranch Bible Studies
Hey Ranch campers!
We have compiled a collection of Bible studies, written by our counselors, specifically for you. Each week we will post a new web study at pinecove.com for you to download. These studies will help you continue the journey through the book of Luke as we seek to deepen our understanding of what it means to deny ourselves.
Brandon “Yellow Submarine” Carreker
Texas A&M University
This study focuses on God’s role as our provider and how to distinguish between “wants” and “needs.”

Ryan “Ernest Goes to Camp” Guinan
Hardin Simmons University
I have come to the realization just in the last few years that God calls us to live a life that looks extremely different from others because He loves us. Sometimes it may seem like He is a mean God because He commands us not to participate in the activities the rest of the world is participating in, but that ultimately comes from His desire for us to experience something better if we dare to follow Him.

Erin “Extra Innings” Lambert
Mississippi College
I wrote this Bible study because it is about situations which all of us have faced or will face. I think loving your enemies is one of the most powerful actions we as Christians can do to show God’s love. It paints a small picture of His love for us.

Mason “Adequaker Oatmeal” Sims
University of Tennessee
I wrote this Bible study because I knew that when I was this way it was a struggle for me to look at the inside of people rather than the outside. It is my prayer that more students today would realize that the outside is not nearly as important as the inside.

Karyn “Bop It, Twist It, Pull It” Hall
Trinity University
I remember myself in middle school, after accepting Christ, getting so bogged down in doing things. I want to encourage these students to silence their lives long enough to just sit with Jesus and listen for His voice, rather than concentrating on all of their commitments and the things they feel they need to do to “please” God. I have been struck by the beautiful simplicity of the gospel and how easy it is to stray from these basic truths.

Devon "Gobbles" Arredondo
Oklahoma Wesleyan University
I wrote this because I have discovered that when I want to quit, but don't and just give it to the Lord, he give me the strength to get up and walk. Also, I have realized that there has to be action on my part. Jesus can't make me get off the mat, it is a choice only I can make.

Lauren "Mia Hammburger with Cheese" Cooper
Mississippi College
I wrote this because I have learned through my years of high school and college just how important it is to make Jesus Christ the rock on which my life is grounded. I want to encourage students to being working on this at a young age and see just how much living for Jesus can impact their lives as well as the lives of others

Paul "Rafiki" Carnahan
Kansas State University
At camp we urge the kids to memorize Bible verses. Many time their only motivation to memorize the verses is so that they can dress their counselors up and possibly earn a pool party. I wanted to give them a reason to memorize verses that would be helpful outside of camp as well.

Alison "Orange You Glad" Bass
Florida State University
Beginning in the 6th grade, I battled poor body image and fought worrying over little things. Learning that God created me beautiful and learning to love His creation was huge for me. Understanding God cares for ME and my needs helped me to see God on a personal level.

Hunter "Krabby Patties" Sharpless
University of Iowa
In high school, one of my biggest struggles was focusing too much on my sin and not enough on God’s love. Instead of dwelling on the hope we have in Jesus, I was selfish and made it all about me. I wrote this study so that you can avoid my mistakes and be inspired by the love God showed us in the resurrection!

Diana "Haphazard" Jones
Mississippi College
I wrote this Bible study to encourage students to remember that no one is too small or insignificant to be used by God in mighty ways. When we search Scripture to see who the Lord has used to bring about His plan, we see that they were not much different than we are.
