Top 8 Questions We Get About Youth Camp

Camper arriving at Pine Cove

Here in the Pine Cove registration department, we love talking about camp! We thought it might be helpful to gather up the most common questions and list them here for you while you’re preparing your camper for summer!

1. What time do I drop off/pick up my camper?

Each youth camp has unique drop-off and pick-up times. Please do not drop off your camper at the designated time. Be sure and plan to come to the Closing Celebrations to get a taste of what your camper has been doing all week! The Celebration includes singing, camper awards, a video presentation of your camper’s week at camp, and a message from the director.

Tyler camps:

  • Towers and Timbers drop-off is Sunday at 2:30 p.m. sharp and closing celebration is Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
  • Ranch and Shores drop-off is Sunday at 3:30 p.m. sharp and closing celebration is Saturday at 10:45 a.m.

Columbus camps:

  • Silverado drop-off is Sunday at 2:30 p.m. sharp and closing celebration is Saturday at 9:15 a.m.
  • Outback drop-off is Sunday at 3:30 p.m. sharp and closing celebration is Saturday at 10:45 a.m.

2. How can I arrange a cabin mate request?

You can request up to four cabin mates, including your camper, through your online Pine Cove account. One parent or legal guardian can complete the process and send the generated code to the other parents, so they can enter it into their accounts.

Note: before you can complete the Cabin Request process, your balance must be paid in full and the required camper forms must be completed.

3. Is there a packing list?

We want your camper as prepared for camp as possible, so we’ve provided detailed packing lists on our website!

4. How much money should I put in the camp store?

Adding money to the camp store is optional, but we suggest between $45-$75. You can also monitor the balance of the camp store account online while your camper is at camp and add additional money if you desire. If you’re worried about placing too much cash in the account, you can elect to receive a refund for the remaining balance or to donate it to the scholarship fund.

There are no camp store accounts for Camp in the City campers.

5. What do I need for theme nights?

You don’t have to spend a lot of money on costumes—it’s about fun. Even simple accessories will help your camper enjoy theme nights! Counselors will get really into their costumes, so as little or as done up that you want to be will be great. A great resource is our theme night pinboard!

6. Can my child come alone to camp?

Absolutely! Believe it or not, about 50 percent of Pine Cove campers come alone to camp each year. As a registration staff, we are super intentional about placing the single campers with other single campers in cabins. Kevin East, our former executive director of ministries, wrote a great blog post about campers coming alone to camp called, Can your child go to camp alone?

7. How do I apply for a scholarship?

You can apply for a scholarship on our website. All you need to do is fill out the scholarship application and submit the first two pages of your most recent tax return. Once you’ve completed the process, you will hear if you’ve been awarded a scholarship within 5-7 days. Keep in mind that you don’t have to have an active registration to apply.

8. Can I send packages and letters to my camper while they are at camp?

Of course! The easiest way is to prepare your letters and packages previous to arriving at camp, and leave it up to us to deliver them to your camper. You can label the letter or package with the day you would like it to be given, and we will pass it out at lunchtime on the designated day. You can also mail letters or packages traditionally. For deliveries through UPS and FED EX, use our direct address.

Another option is to purchase a Flac Pack or Camo Kit online before your camper arrives at camp, and we will take care of the delivery!

And there you have it! The most common questions we get about youth camp! Do you have a question we didn’t cover? Give us a call at 877-474-6326 and we’d love to talk to you!
