Nervous about camp? Don’t be!
Whether it’s your first time at youth camp, family camp, or day camp, opening day can be overwhelming if you don’t know what to expect. Thankfully, Pine Cove has a solution: this article!
Lots of excitement. If there’s one word to describe opening day it’s “hype.” Picture lots of cheering, smiling, and jumping as you drive up. We are as excited (likely more so) as you are to arrive. We just show it by going crazy (in a good way) when we see you!
To be served. Pine Cove strives to be others-focused, which is why we love to serve you. If a staffer asks to help carry in your bags, let them. We want to help you. It gives us joy (for real though).
To learn lots of crazy names. One of the most fun traditions at Pine Cove is our camp names. They’re weird, funny, and seemingly out of the blue. Don’t be afraid to ask staffers how they got their name. It’s an awesome way to get to know people, plus it’s funny.
To hear lots of loud cheers. Pine Cove has a cheer for everything. There are some cheers that Pine Cove does as a whole like the Birthday Rap and counting numbers. There are also more camp specific cheers. For instance, there is a chant for Honda CRVs (looking at you, Camp in the City). It may be startling if you aren’t expecting it, so just be aware. And don’t be afraid to laugh. It’s meant to be funny!
To make lifelong friends. Camp is a fun, exciting place where people come together to celebrate Jesus. It doesn’t take long (two point five seconds to be exact) to meet new friends. Our activities create team bonding while our Bible studies cultivate spiritual growth. Altogether, campers grow closer to Jesus as they grow closer together.
Coming to camp for the first time can be nerve-wracking if you’re not sure what to expect. Now that you’ve read this article, we hope you feel more prepared to come to camp!
