Wally “JJ Redneck” Jenkins

Wally began working at Pine Cove in the fall of 2014 as a Camp in the City Site Coordinator. Prior to that he spent five summers on staff serving as a counselor at the Pine Cove Ranch, and senior counselor and program director for Camp in the City. Wally graduated from Louisiana State University in the spring of 2013 with a degree in Sports Administration, but is an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan! Upon graduating from LSU he completed the Pine Cove Forge program the following year. Wally is passionate about seeing the influence of the gospel expand so that more people may experience the life that Christ has to offer them.

Rebecca “Deemer” Smith

Rebecca serves as the Southwest Regional Director of Camp in the City. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, she graduated from Auburn University (War Eagle!) with a degree in Psychology and Human Development and Family Studies. While in college, she worked at Outback from 2009-2011. She spent three years as a Guest Services Coordinator at Pine Cove Crier Creek before joining the Camp in the City team in 2015. Rebecca loves spending time with people, excessive amounts of coffee, and being outdoors. She is passionate about investing in relationships and equipping those around her to see Jesus better.

Tyler “Cheezy” Sullins
ETX Regional Director

Tyler joined the full time staff in Spring of 2015. Prior to that he spent four summers working at the Towers and Camp in the City serving as a Counselor, Senior Counselor, and Program Director. Tyler also met his wife Katelyn, or "Mando," while working at camp. He has also served in apartment and counseling ministries. Tyler was born and raised in Alabama and graduated from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga. He also holds a degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. Tyler can often be found reading a good book, finding a new coffee shop, or just being outside. He is passionate about helping others know Jesus more and gain a greater understanding of themselves.

Jerad “Pile Driver” Birch

Jerad grew up in the great state of Colorado, but is now pleased to call Texas his home away from home. He graduated from Pine Cove’s Forge program in May 2013 before serving at the Bluff's Guest Services Coordinator. Before that, Jerad worked six summers on summer staff spending time at the Woods, Camp in the City, and the Bluffs. Through his summers working at camp, he has developed a passion for seeing marriages thrive and families function in the way that God has created them to work. He is happy to make a return to Camp in the City as a Site Coordinator.

Will “Beats” Brown

Will joined the Pine Cove full-time staff in August of 2016 after working five summers at the Timbers and Camp in the City. During his summer staff time he served in various roles such as counselor, senior counselor, and program director. He was born and raised in Trinity, Alabama and graduated from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) with a Degree in Business Administration. He loves watching sports, playing games, reading, and exploring the great outdoors. He is excited to partner with the local church and come alongside them for the sake of the gospel and maturity of others.

Davis “Kitty Hawk” Buchanan

Davis joined the full-time staff at Pine Cove in August of 2015 after working for four summers at the Ranch. During that time, he held multiple positions, including counselor, senior counselor, and program director. He grew up in Dallas, Texas and graduated from the University of Georgia (GO DAWGS!) with a degree in English and a specialization in creative writing in December of 2013. He spent a year in Tyler, Texas growing, learning, and maturing in Pine Cove’s Forge program from 2014-2015. He loves watching football, reading, giving his opinion, and making people laugh. He has a desire to create environments in which people are comfortable enough to connect with one another, with knowledge, and ultimately with the Gospel.

Dexter “Pikapoo!” Carter

Dexter joined the full-time staff at Pine Cove in August 2015 after working five summers at Camp in the City. He served in several different roles during his summer career, which include being a counselor, senior counselor, and program director. He was born in Humble, Texas. Dexter attended Dallas Baptist University (Go Patriots!), and graduated with a Biblical Studies degree. Once he gradated from DBU, Dexter completed the Pine Cove Forge program. Dexter is passionate about investing in people, ministries, and especially the Church. He is excited to partner with the local church and uplift people so they my know their true identity in Christ.

Luke “Patches” Cummings

Luke joined the full-time staff at Pine Cove in September of 2014. He is from Bremen, Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia where he studied Recreation Management. He has served with multiple organizations and ministries over the years, including an events company he was on staff with for two years. Some of his favorite things include Dawgs football, exploring outdoors, reading, and spending time with friends and family. Luke loves that Camp in the City allows staff to go beyond typical ideas of camp to encourage and empower the local church.

Brandon “Bomb Squawks” Gray

Brandon joined the Pine Cove full-time staff in August of 2016 after working four summers with Camp in the City and the Shores. During his summer staff time he served in various roles such as counselor and senior counselor. He was born and raised in Westfield, Indiana and graduated from Wheaton College (Go Thunder) with a Degree in Interpersonal Communication, and a minor in Christian Education. He enjoys playing sports, late night drives with friends, and hearing peoples' stories. He is hopeful to create an environment where people can lead out of who Christ made them to be. Brandon is excited to partner with churches and join them in spreading and living out the Gospel with his team.

E.J. “Pops” Hibbler

E.J. tagged along with the Outback team in 2014 as a counselor. In 2015, he served again at Outback as the program director for Cultivate. Shortly afterward, he was offered the wonderful opportunity to serve as a Site Coordinator for Camp in the City in the Southwest Region. E.J. is a graduate of Mississippi State University (How bout dem bulldawgs?) with a degree in Geosciences. He enjoys running, in-depth and meaningful conversation, and candy! E.J. was born in Columbus, Georgia and raised in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He is eager to seek people out and share the beautiful news of Jesus Christ.

Meagan “Sushi Roll” Moore

After working four summers at Pine Cove, Meagan joined the full-time team at Pine Cove in the fall of 2015. During her time as a summer staffer, she worked at the Ranch, Silverado, and Camp in the City. Meagan attended the University of Texas at Tyler, and graduated in August of 2015 with a marketing degree. Meagan grew up in Waxahachie, Texas with her four siblings. Meagan is passionate about Camp in the City because it enables churches to leverage their opportunities for outreach while providing an avenue for individuals to come to know the Lord more deeply.

Sam “Bus” Peters

Sam began working for Pine Cove full time in the fall of 2016 after spending four summers with Pine Cove, all at Camp in the City. Sam grew up in Wisconsin and has been spotted wearing a cheesehead. Sam came to know Christ after his freshman year at the University of Wisconsin and graduated with an Economics degree at East Tennessee State University in picturesque Johnson City. He enjoys an eclectic mixture of rambunctious and soothing activities. In all things, Sam is passionate about God being glorified and about seeing Jesus Christ loved and treasured. He is excited about Camp in the City because of the unique opportunity it affords to minister to both campers and host home families and because it allows Pine Cove to serve the local church.

Garret “Busta Move” Ward

Garret joined the full-time staff at Pine Cove in September of 2013 after serving four summers at the Outback and Silverado camps as a counselor, senior counselor, and program director. He worked as a Software Developer before transitioning into Camp in the City as a Site Coordinator. Garret graduated from Baylor University (Sic Em!) with a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems. Anything outdoors including disc golf, baseball, and football is enjoyable for Garret. He loves to build meaningful relationships and equip others to see the power of God be used in people's lives.

Camp in the City Summer Staff

Around here we have a saying that "Our staff is our program." By this we mean that we place a high standard on whom we hire for our summer staff positions. The activities at camp are fun, the skits will make you laugh, and the music is loud, but it is the staff that will encourage, invest in, and model Jesus for your child. We interview thousands of college students to hire just a few hundred. Our screening process is intense and long, but worth it! We are committed to making sure your child is cared for physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
