After his summers at Pine Cove, he took time to go to seminary for a year in Louisville, Kentucky before returning in 2008 to work full time at the Shores. In 2009 he transitioned down to Columbus, Texas where he served as the Associate Director. Melanie joined the full-time staff at Pine Cove in January of 2011 after four summers served at the Ranch camp as a counselor, senior counselor and assistant program director. She has had many roles over the past few years including: Shores Guest Relations, Camp in the City Site Coordinator (formerly Base Camps), and Strategic Partnership Specialist. In May of 2016, she moved into her role as the Outback Women's Director to spend more time pouring into our college staff and middle school/high school campers. Melanie was born in California before moving to Denton, Texas as an eight-year-old. She attended Dallas Baptist University and graduated with a degree in elementary education. Melanie enjoys being outside, working with her hands, and eating chips and salsa every day. She also always double-knots her shoe laces.
Around here we have a saying that "Our staff is our program." By this we mean that we place a high standard on whom we hire for our summer staff positions. The activities at camp are fun, the skits will make you laugh, and the music is loud, but it is the staff that will encourage, invest in, and model Jesus for your child. We interview thousands of college students to hire just a few hundred. Our screening process is intense and long, but worth it! We are committed to making sure your child is cared for physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
