  Staff Expectations

At Pine Cove, we often use the phrase, “What we do in moderation, kids will do in excess.” This saying reminds us that we have a responsibility to lay our own freedoms aside for the sake of kids and families that come to camp who might be distracted by those freedoms. Because of our desire to minister to the most people possible we have established some guidelines that will provide a week of undistracted fun and focus on the Lord. Just so that we are all on the same page, we want to be upfront about some things we are going to require of you so that the gospel can be preached to all we encounter without distraction.

  Safety

The safety of our campers and staff is extremely important to us. To ensure the highest level of safety, all staff will follow Pine Cove regulations regarding curfew, automobiles, and will be prohibited from the use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, or any dangerous drugs while camp is in session and during time off. If you are struggling with an eating disorder or any other issue that may keep you from safely performing your job please delay applying until you have experienced full healing.

  Appearance

We know that many wholesome college students exercise their freedoms to dress and act with creativity. However, many parents do not want their adolescent children to do the same. Therefore, in our desire to avoid causing conflict between parents and their kids, we have chosen to take a conservative approach in our dress, appearance and behavior. We limit our freedoms in order to impact the most kids and parents possible for Christ.

  Communication

In order to free you and your campers from distractions, cell phones may only be used during weekend time off.

  Unity

With over 700 summer staff, more than 140 full-time employees, and 14,000-plus campers every summer, our ministry represents many denominational backgrounds. To promote “the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” we ask our staff not to teach, promote or practice interpretations of any doctrinal issues, which have historically acted to bring disunity and division within the body of Christ. Once again, we choose to limit our freedoms in order to impact the most kids and parents possible for Christ.
