About Kay Wyma

Kay Wills Wyma is a mother of five children between the ages of 7 and 18. Before transitioning to the role of stay-at-home mom, she held positions at the White House, the Staubach Company and Bank of America. Currently, Kay is a popular blogger, speaker and writing contributor for publications such as Huffington Post, The New York Times, DMagazine and Dallas Child.

In her latest book, I’m Happy for You (Sort Of...Not Really): Finding Contentment in a Culture of Comparison (WaterBrook Press, May 5, 2015) Wyma uncovers the pitfalls of a comparison culture fueled, in particular, by social media. She recounts her own struggles as well as those she's seen manifested in her children's lives, as they all fight to keep from falling behind or missing out. "When comparison isn’t involved, we are content," Wyma explains. "But once we start measuring our lives—against others, against what we could have, against what we think we should have—what we seem to lack takes center stage. Comparison lurks in the shadows...and with comparison come these tagalong sidekicks: performance and competition. All of which bullet-train us to the Land of Discontent."

Wyma courageously tackled the issue of youth entitlement in her first book Cleaning House: A Mom’s 12 Month Experiment to Rid Her Home of Youth Entitlement (WaterBrook Press, May 8, 2012). She has been featured on The Today Show, CNN-HLN, and the Glenn Beck Show. Her interview on Focus on the Family received such a high response that it was included in the "Best of 2013" series of programs. She speaks regularly to community groups, women’s ministries and schools. She earned a BA from Baylor University and an MBA from The Thunderbird School of Global Management. She and Jon live in Dallas.
