“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.”
Overflow, a two-week experience at the Shores, is dedicated to building a firm foundation in the lives of high school students by taking their relationship with Christ to the next level. The program provides both a learning environment and a training ground for students to solidify their faith, just as Colossians 2:6-8 encourages. Through biblical teaching and comprehensive studies on issues facing teens today, our desire is to inspire students to stand firm against the false teachings of this world and cling to the truths of the Bible, thus helping them apologetically defend the faith. Our hope is that as a result of the program the students will develop a passion for Jesus Christ that “overflows” into the lives of those around them.
Campers will, at times throughout the two weeks, be doing activities away from camp. Therefore, they will experience each Shores theme night one time, but over a two week period. This will be done in no particular order throughout their time at camp.
Campers will be given the opportunity to serve in and out of camp. This means they will be helping behind the scenes doing service projects within camp, and in the Tyler area. This is not for the purpose of putting them to “work,” but to help instill within them an attitude of servant leadership.
