We had an amazing time at Winterfest this weekend! Our Central and East Texas youth camps had 1,263 campers on property for the coolest weekend of the year. Summer staff came in to help, returning campers were ecstatic to be back at camp, and some campers came that had never been to Pine Cove before!
The weekend was full of gingerbread-building competitions, zip lining, hilarious skits—and there was even a snowball fight with real snow! The Timbers had a competition between Team Frank and Team Myrrh to see who would win the most “Christmas magic,” and for the first time ever, the Ridge joined in on the Winterfest fun!
After a long semester of classes and schoolwork, it was a refreshing weekend for our counselors and campers alike to get away and have fun, while also being reminded of the reason we celebrate Christmas in the first place: Jesus! Towers campers learned about Advent — what it means, what the first advent was, what the second advent will be, and what that looks like for us as believers today. They even went through helpful ways to share the Gospel!
Jesus came down to the earth in the form of a baby, lived a perfect life, and died for our sins. He came to save the world and to bring hope to those who have none! The God of the universe loved us so much that he sent his only son to die for us (John 3:16)!
We are thankful that Winterfest was an opportunity to make known the name of the Lord. God moved in big ways this weekend, and we pray that He will continue to do so in the lives of our campers and staff.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” -Isaiah 9:6
