Whether it’s the song playing over the loudspeakers as you drove through the gates for the very first time, the ones you scrubbed dish after dish to, your favorite silent disco anthem, or that one Club song that felt like an “Ebenezer” moment—music has a way of sticking with us. We wanted to know what these songs and memories are for some of our awesome alumni, in relation to their time on summer staff at Pine Cove. Check out what they had to say and maybe find a few new tunes to add to your playlist!
“Go Buck” by Flame brings me back to Impact Dance on Friday nights, where every staffer and camper felt completely comfortable and went absolutely insane at the best dance ever.”
— Michal “Panda” McCampbell, Chimney Point (2022–2025)
“In Tenderness” by Citizens always reminds me of Club!”
— Isabel “Queen Zizi” Barnett, Timbers (2024)
“Wanted Man – Live From the Woods” by NEEDTOBREATHE reminds me of “Flipping the Rock” as we set up for Closing Ceremony. It’s the perfect pump-up song when it’s all hands on deck.”
— Gracie “Mumble Muffin” Dublin, Towers (2016–2020)
“Banana Phone” by Raffi takes me back to everyone singing it while standing on their chairs with bananas at lunch.”
— Jenna Grace “877-Gas-Now” Gorman, Shores (2025)
“A song that always takes me back to camp is ‘joy.’ by for KING & COUNTRY. I might be in my living room but when those instruments come in and the beat drops, I’m right back at camp doing the motions. It reminds me of praising and worshiping with my campers and watching them come out of their shells as they embrace worship through song and dance. There’s nothing more powerful than being in a room full of people who love the Lord—jumping, singing, and serving Him together. I highly recommend giving it a listen today!”
— Liana “Nala” Martinez, City Team Jungle (2024–2025)
“At the end of every week, once campers were gone, our camp would play ‘Abide’ by Aaron Williams. We would reflect on the week while listening to it.”
— Alex “Mud Boy” Becerra, Outback (2025)
“Being both a camper and a counselor, I’ll always remember hearing ‘Soldiers’ during lunches. It instantly takes me back… I’m about to go listen to it now!”
— Jordan “Puppy Love” Frederiksen (Miller), Ranch (2014–2015)
“Living Water” by Shane & Shane reminds me of mealtime at Towers and all the joy it brings!”
— Emery “Coney” Wilkerson, Towers (2024)
“I will always associate ‘Ants in My Pants’ by Not Klyde with camp. We would scream for it to play again, no matter how many times we had already done the dance!”
— Haley “Fall and Trippotamus” Pottle, Silverado (2023)
“‘YOUR WAY’S BETTER’ by Forrest Frank was consistently played at the horse barn. It was an honest testament that in every task we were doing, God’s way is better.”
— Greyson “Slayer” Evans, Silverado (2025)
“‘Pump It Up’ by Endor reminds me of 5-Minute Blitz!”
— Eleanor “Bubbles” Douglas, Chimney Point (2025)
“‘Soldiers’ by Out of Eden became my and my friend Alli’s favorite over time, and now it makes me think of her and camp every time I hear it.”
— Reagan “Alfred” Fifer, Timbers (2025)
