Everything I need, everything I need
My Father has it, my Father has it
Every single time, the Lord will provide
My Father has it, my Father has it
Hey Pine Cove! It’s Bones—Outback Women’s Director!
Something the Lord has been teaching me is that those who put their trust in God have all that they need.
Psalm 34:8-10 says this:
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack!
The young lions suffer want and hunger;
But those who seek the Lord lack no good thing!”
Let’s break this down a bit.
Verse 8: To taste and see that the Lord is good looks like trusting God, delighting in Him, seeking Him, going to Him. We taste and see God’s goodness when we have a personal encounter with Him. God is our refuge—in Him we find strength, comfort, protection, and provision.
Verse 9: Fearing God does not mean being scared of God, but to have reverence and be in awe of His holiness and authority. Who are His saints? Those who have put their trust in God. If you have seen God’s goodness in your life, if you have really put your trust in Him, then you will fear Him.
Verse 10: Lions are strong animals, but even lions can go hungry. The contrast is those who trust God lack nothing! Now this does not mean that God is a genie who gives us all that we want or think we need. It also doesn’t mean that we will never face hard things. Instead, it means that what we truly need, God has given it to us- Himself. Even in hard times, we lack nothing because God uses those moments for us to trust Him more.
He is trustworthy. He is worthy of our awe. We have Him, therefore we lack nothing.
He is all that I need.
Reflection questions:
What does it mean to trust God?
What areas of your life do you try to find your refuge in outside of God?
Reflect on the ways you have tasted and seen God in your life.
