“And before the world was breathing
You have chosen to redeem me
For you loved me
Lord, you loved me”

Pine Cove! Outback Men’s Director, Charmander, here! Excited to share with y’all today!

We are in a constant battle with our flesh, fighting the selfish urge trying to look good in front of other people.

A question to ask ourselves: Is being seen and known by our Heavenly Father and no one else enough for you?

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 6:1

Take time to read Matthew 6:1-18 before continuing!

In verses 1-4, Jesus shows us that when we are generous, we shouldn’t go and tell everyone that we were so generous today.

Can I be generous without seeking praise from others?

In verses 5-14, Jesus is calling out the hypocrites that pray in public but not in private to the Lord, and He says their reward is here and not in heaven.

Are most of my prayers in public or private?

In verses 15-18, Jesus speaks on fasting and the correct way of doing it. But it relates even to when we do hard things for the Lord.

When I do things for the Lord that are hard, do I trust that He sees me and will give me what I need?

Our Heavenly Father knows, loves, and wants to be with YOU! Nearness to Him is the best for us. It isn’t easy, but it’s worth it! It is worth being unknown in the world to be known by our Heavenly Father who sees in secret and will reward in secret.

He knows you! He sees you! He loves you!

Reflection Questions:

1. Is being known and seen by God truly enough for me?
2. Is my prayer life (or any spiritual discipline) mostly secret, or public?
3. What times in the day can I implement prayer that only the Lord will know about?
