The Fourth of July is such a fun holiday, and so quintessentially summer. Also? It pairs extremely well with summer camp! For the lucky campers who come for the week of July 4th (this year it was Week 6), they are in for a treat.

Each camp loves make the week extra special for everyone, and of course that means making this holiday even more seriously fun. We love seeing campers and staff decked out in their red, white, and blue all day to celebrate the freedom we are thankful to enjoy in this country!

Many camps gave a very patriotic Birthday Rap to the USA at some point during the day, and several had America-inspired skits throughout the week. “Betsy Hoss” is always a favorite character!

At the Woods this year, one family honored their dad who is deployed by doing a “fun run” for him while waving their American flags. Their dad had a similar picture where he was deployed. We loved it!

At youth camps, we raise and lower the American flag every day as part of our program, so you can bet that on this particular holiday, things get especially over-the-top! For example, a parade at morning Flag would not be out of place.

The Timbers also hosted their own “Revolutionary [Color] War” and it was epic!

The fourth of July is a blast every year at camp, and this one was no different. It’s hard to beat your own private fireworks show at each camp, right?
