Summer at camp isn’t just about games and cabins: it’s about encountering God in the everyday moments. Each week during Club, campers and staff pause together to worship, reflect, and hear messages that challenge and inspire. Laughter and stories mix with Scripture, leaving everyone with something to carry home in their hearts. Today, we’re sharing a moment from the Woods, where Faith “Funday” Jermstad, the Woods women’s director, led a message celebrating the goodness of God and all He has done.
Camp was awesome! What a week we had together. Over the past few days, I hope you had the chance to play, rest, learn, recharge, and, most importantly, spend purposeful time with the Lord and with one another.
As we look back on this past year, including the time we spent at camp this past summer, here’s a question to reflect on with God and your family: “Lord, what did I see You do this year that I can praise You for?”
Our prayer is that God used your week of camp to encourage you and your family, and that the experiences you had and the things you witnessed here will continue to inspire and strengthen your faith long after you leave camp.
I grew up coming to camp with my family, and I know first hand how easy it is to jump straight back into our normal routines and forget all that we experienced and saw God do here. Maybe that resonates with you too. Every time I leave a week like this, I am reminded, and sometimes convicted, to be intentional about remembering and celebrating what God has done.
Let us be people who remember. Let us be slow to jump back into our schedules and quick to praise God for His work in our lives. One of the best ways to do this is by sharing our stories by telling others how we have seen God at work.
Psalm 40:9-10 says,
“I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, Lord, as you know. I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly.”
The “great assembly” here refers to the people God has placed in our lives, including our families, neighbors, friends, classmates, and coworkers. These are the people we get to share not just the fun memories from camp with, but also the ways we grew closer to Jesus.
Camp is wonderful, but it’s not ultimately about camp. It’s about Jesus and what He does through tools like camp to draw us near to Him. As we prepare to go into this next year and share our stories from this past year and summer, let’s take time to remember what Jesus has done for us, not just at camp, but in the greatest act of all: His sacrifice on the cross. Through it, He defeated sin and death so that we might have eternal life with God the Father.
2 Corinthians 5:21 reminds us:
“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
To remember this greatest gift, we’ll take communion together as a family, reflecting on Christ’s sacrifice and celebrating His love as we leave this place.
Let us go forth, remembering and rejoicing, sharing with the world not about camp, but about Jesus, who makes all things new!
