One thing there’s no shortage of right now? Content! Everywhere you turn, there are lists of podcasts to listen to, apps to download, and books to give your attention to. It can be hard to cut through the noise and even know where to start! The good news is that your friends at Pine Cove have been keeping an eye out for some resources we think would be beneficial for you and your family—no extra searching or scrolling necessary! Check out a few of our current favorites below.

Book: “The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry” by John Mark Comer
Culture today often pushes us toward more: more hobbies, more events, and more activities to fill our lives with. But so often the thing that our spiritual life is lacking is our attention. In “The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry,” author John Mark Comer encourages us to slow down, rest, and ultimately fix our eyes on Jesus, rather than hurry our way through our schedules. As you get ready to head into another school year, we recommend checking out this quick, convicting, and ultimately encouraging read and learning how an unhurried life can lead to spiritual freedom.

App: Abide
Looking for a convenient way to meditate on Scripture throughout your day? Check out Abide! Featuring prayers, devotionals, and narrators reading from the Word, the Abide app makes it easy—and enjoyable—to steep yourself in Scripture. One of our favorite features: you can fully customize your listening experience by adding background music or even nature sounds to give yourself the perfect atmosphere for meditating on God’s Word. Whether you’re looking to listen for a few pockets of time or for longer stretches throughout your day, Abide is a great way to keep yourself immersed in Biblical Truth!

Album: Keeper of Days
Oh that I could see your face / How I’m longing for that day / Brighter sun of holy grace / Make my heart a holy place
With these words, Jon Guerra begins a musically thoughtful and spiritually rich album of devotional songs that will lead any listener to the heart of Jesus. If you’ve been searching for some meditative and musically refreshing worship music, check out “Keeper of Days.” Song after song, the intentional lyrics and beautiful melodies of Guerra’s music will gently nudge you to draw closer to our Savior, and we think you’ll find yourself listening to it on repeat!

Email Subscription: Culture Translator
Sometimes it feels like kids and teens are speaking a completely different language. And that can make it extremely difficult when you’re trying to relate to your children and the things that are being talked about in their friend groups and school hallways. So rather than always feeling behind, sign up to get a weekly “translator” in your email inbox! Axis, a Christian organization Pine Cove trusts and respects, puts together this free resource designed to help you stay on top of the ins and outs of popular culture. From “Group Text Rules” to “Fliff Flaff” (yes, that’s a real thing!), the Culture Translator is here to help you make sense of what’s going on in your kid’s world.

Podcast: God’s Big Story
It’s not always easy to find the time to get more Jesus into your kids’ days. That’s why the podcast “God’s Big Story” is such a great resource! Lasting just 15-20 minutes, these bite-sized episodes are perfect to put on in your car and listen to as a family while heading from home to school or the grocery store and everywhere in between. “God’s Big Story” features stacks of episodes that cover the fruits of the Spirit, prayer, and Jesus’s ministry, plus answers to questions like “What is a Sermon?” and “What is Worship?” Each episode also comes with a song, a little “quiz” about what’s been discussed, and encouragement to dive further into God’s word. It’s a seriously fun approach to infusing more of the Gospel into your everyday life, so check out the episodes wherever you listen to podcasts!
