We really love Christmas music around Pine Cove, so we wanted to share our favorite tunes with you! We asked our resident staff to tell us their favorite songs and why they love them. Then of course we made two playlists on Spotify. There’s an upbeat playlist for tree decorating, making Christmas cookies, and more, plus a more chill, worshipful playlist too!
Here’s why our staff chose some of the songs you’ll see on those playlists:
“Phil Wickham’s Songs for Christmas album, because the chill vibes and mellow sounds make me forget I’m living in a state that only sees snow once every four years.” -Jerad “Pile Driver” Birch
“Charlie Brown Christmas album by Vince Guaraldi Trio, because it’s all instrumental. It’s lovely. It just makes you want to curl up by the fire, drink hot chocolate, and have a great conversation all while celebrating the birth of our Lord. It’s just good, classic Christmas.” -Caroline “Rents” Reyes
“December by George Winston is the best kept secret out there! Hands down best Christmas instrumental I’ve ever heard. Just take a listen to Joy and it will have your jaw on the ground. It’s a slight composition twist to Bach’s classic Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.” -Jake “Dr. Shakel & Mr. Fly” Collins
“Come Thou Long Expected Jesus by Kings Kaleidoscope, because it’s such an awesome take on an old hymn! It has cool perspective not only on awaiting Jesus’ birth, but also His second coming. It’s one of my favorites even when it’s not the Christmas season!” -Conor “Flowstopper” Barry
“All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey, because it’s our family Christmas song – when it comes on we stop whatever we’re doing and dance around the coffee table. Great memories!” -Lisa “Over the Edge” Archinal
“Andrew Peterson’s Behold the Lamb of God album. The album as a whole is so good. Literally the story of Christ from Old Testament to the New. It makes me cry every time I listen to the story of what God has done. I listen to it in the non-Christmas time too! A good reminder of Jesus.” -Melanie “Wafells” Langemeier
*This album is not available on Spotify, so it’s not on the playlists we created, but we wanted to be sure and mention it since it is a favorite of many of our staff. Check it out here.*
