We’ll shout ‘til the whole world hears it
We’ll sing ‘til the whole world knows
King Jesus, he is faithful
He is the blessed hope
Hi guys! It’s Sneaky Pete, your Ridge Associate Director!
In middle school, my mom finally started letting me stay home with my younger sister while she was running errands. Typically, this came with a short list of chores for us to finish before she returned.
Most of the time, though, we got caught up playing games or even baking cookies until we heard the daunting noise of the garage door opening! We’d look at each other with wide eyes and scramble to get as much done as we could before she walked in.
This reminds me of a call that God has given each of us:
“Stay ready.”
Over the last year, I’ve been studying the Gospel of Luke. In Luke 12:35-36, Jesus says:
“Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks.”
What Jesus is referring to here is the time when He inevitably will come back. Because no one knows when that day will come (Luke 12:40), He calls us to always be prepared.
If you’re anything like me, you often think about Jesus’ return as some far off event that doesn’t affect your current life. As I read this passage, though, it hit me. I don’t want to be “playing games” or “making cookies” when Christ returns. I want to be ready!
Being “ready” means living like He could come back at any time. If I woke up and believed this, it would give a greater urgency and passion to my prayer, time in the Word, evangelism, relationships, and every other aspect of my life!
As 2026 continues, I’ve been asking myself a question, and I’d encourage you to do the same:
“Jesus is coming back. Are you ready?”
