Throwback Activities at Pine Cove

Pine Cove has always been seriously fun, and every year the camp directors and program directors work hard to come up with awesome activities and games. After all, one of the things we love about camp is you get to do things you don’t get to do at home!

We were looking through some old pictures in our files recently, and came across these throwback activity photos, and we loved them immediately. We also noticed some of them would definitely not pass our safety rules today. (A motorcycle through a ring of fire? Seriously?)

Do you see what we see? That circle of campers is holding a parachute and using it as a handheld trampoline. What could go wrong?

Apparently this game was called “Moonball,” and unless you get on the wrong side of the ball on the losing team, it’s a blast!

We’re all wishing hot air balloons were still around!

BB Guns are still a current activity at camp today, but this picture is from 1968, so of course we think it’s adorable.

Here’s Buffalo Hunt from the Towers in the 1970s. Some things never change—except that the game has definitely gotten increasingly muddier over the years!

Sailing at the Ranch in the 90s was clearly all the rage. (See those kids posing on the far right? We love it!)

This picture is of the Shores pool in 1998—its first summer!

How cute is this Towers camper showing off his big catch in 1999?

Hope you enjoyed walking down memory lane with us! Don’t worry moms, safety is a really big deal to us now, and we have no plans for any more motorcycles jumping through rings of fire.
