Pat “Sew Train” Phillips has worked at Pine Cove in our Registration department for over twenty years. Last Friday was her last day before retiring, and we miss her already!

Around Pine Cove, we affectionately refer to our registration team as “Reggies,” and they are the smiling faces behind any phone call to our main line. Though a lot of our registration has moved online in the past few years, this team handles hundreds of phone calls a day answering questions about camp to first-time campers, making housing assignments for summer and conferences, keeping up with wait lists, and being the front-line of Pine Cove’s ministry.

Pat is wise, faithful, fun, joyful, and extremely caring. She’s known around the office for her delicious cookie cakes. Often, she would make whole cookie cakes for every staff kid at camp and send it to them through camp mail!

We had her retirement party last week, and everyone took turns sharing stories about Pat. One of our favorites was when she put a real live chicken her boss’s office for his birthday. His office was completely set up for a chicken, covered in paper and chicken feed, and he was shocked! We all had a good laugh picturing that moment.

Pat has been the leader for our registration team for many years, and the men and women she led always thought of her more as a family member than a boss. She will definitely be missed!
