We’re gearing up for the most magical time of the year, and Advent is calling us to embrace its unique beauty. Advent isn’t just any holiday—it’s a time for hope, reflection, and excitement. We asked our awesome staff to share their go-to Advent resources and Bible studies. Join us on this journey as we unwrap the wonders of Advent and rediscover the true spirit of the season!

This book, Tidings of Comfort and Joy, is a great 25-day devotional leading up to Christmas! – JD “Rambus” Moore, Ranch Camp Director

I read “Hidden Christmas” by Timothy Keller last Christmas season and it was of great encouragement to me. I may read it again this year with Tim Keller’s passing! – Conor “Flow” Barry, Ridge Camp Director

Pursuing the Christ: Prayers for Christmastime” is such a treasure! Jennifer Kennedy Dean is a beautiful and poetic writer, leading her readers right to the very heart of Jesus amidst the chaos of the holiday season. She has an incredible way with words, and this small book of meditations on Christmas feels special and precious and like something that should be read by flickering candlelight. Here’s one of my favorite passages found in its pages: “Call His name Jesus, because He has saved His people from their sins. He has broken every yoke and set captives free. He has revealed the invisible God, bright glory filtered through His body of flesh so we would not have to hide our faces from the unapproachable light.”Valerie “Ouch Potato” Morby, Social Media and Copy Manager

The Austin Stone Advent Devotional is great because it has both a personal devotional, a family devotional, and a community devotional (with a meal!) option each day. There’s also a kid’s ornament book with ornaments kids can color that go along with the lessons! I’ve also really enjoyed the Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus devotional collection, with scripture and selections from sermons and writings of many greats in the faith! – Jesse Garner, Sr. Director of Engagement

I’ve done Paul David Tripp’s Come, Let Us Adore Him: A Daily Advent Devotional before and really enjoyed it! – Kate “Dingo Baby” Blocker, Ridge Women’s Director

I love “The Dawning of Indestructible Joy” by John Piper for Advent. I’ve also heard great things about Timothy Keller’s “Hidden Christmas.” – Annelise “Sminlin’” Morrison, Silverado Camp Director

She Reads Truth has a plethora of devotionals that I love to learn from, but I especially love their yearly Advent Study Book. It’s always encouraging and rooted in scripture, but they also add fun crafts and recipes to try. And don’t get me started on the aesthetic… it’s basically its own Christmas decoration for your coffee table! This year they even have options for the whole family to get involved. – Karissa “Yikes” Pitaniello, Content Coordinator
