Seven years ago when we started Camp in the City, we never would have imagined taking camp to 100 different locations all over the South. We have the coolest jobs ever! We get to partner with the best churches while providing an awesome camp experience for them and the people in their communities.
Nearly 450 college summer staff will join us as we hit the road in May who are pumped to share the love of Jesus with 1st through 6th graders across nine states. Along the way, our staff will also get the incredible opportunity of staying with families at over 1,000 host homes. We feel privileged to be a part of the ministry happening through Camp in the City and what God is doing to transform the lives of people for His purposes and His glory.
Being a camp that picks up and goes on the road for the summer can make someone wonder how we pull it all off. What does this look like for the campers when it’s all said and done?
Camp in the City is a day camp, but much of what we do is bringing the camp experience from Pine Cove’s on-site camps to our church locations. Campers will be in a group (cabin) of other campers, their same age, and gender, and have a specified counselor leading their activities. Climbing walls, water slides, laser tag, and bungee trampolines are just a few of the awesome activities campers get to experience throughout the week.
Our hope is that through Bible study, messages from our leadership, worship, and intentional group time with their counselors, campers will grow in a deeper understanding of who God is and who He has created them to be.
